Alpine skiing, a key event since the first Winter Universiade in Chamonix in 1960, will feature over 300 athletes from 50 countries at the upcoming FISU World University Games in Torino, making it the most popular discipline of this edition.
Among the notable athletes and past winners are Fausto Radici, Daniela Zini, and Claudia Giordani (Italy), Christian Neureuther and Kilian Albrecht (Germany), Kilian Albrecht (Austria), Perrine Pelen (France), and Blanca Fernández Ochoa (Spain).
Events will take place in Bardonecchia, including Super-G, Giant Slalom, Slalom, Alpine Combined, and Mixed Team Parallel on courses between 2800 and 1312 meters above sea level.
But that’s not all. Torino, the birthplace of university-athlete competitions, will host another first in January: for the first time, para-athletes will also compete in Super-G and Giant Slalom.
