There are only more than 100 days to go before the start of the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games, and on the occasion of the countdown, the SCHOOLS PROJECT, realised in collaboration with the Regional School Office, has officially started: a set of activities that will see the territorial school institutes as protagonists before and during the FISU Games Event.
There are four educational projects that will be developed between now and the start of the Games:
BOSCOTO25 is a project involving primary schools in all the municipalities hosting the competitions.
Bosco Diffuso Torino 2025 aims to raise awareness among the pupils of the schools involved in the project on environmental sustainability and the protection of green areas in the territory. The aim of this project is to make them understand the fundamental concept of biodiversity, of which we are all a part, as well as the creation of spaces for relaxation, socialisation and recreational and sporting activities through the planting of multiple seedlings within spaces researched ad hoc by the municipalities involved. The students will be the direct protagonists, both by participating in workshops on nature and by directly planting the selected seedlings with the help of qualified personnel and customising them with labels.
Prior to the planting days, a workshop will be held in each municipality – organised by the Committee in cooperation with the Carabinieri Forestry Specialists and the Piedmont Region – in which children will be made aware of biodiversity issues, forest ecology and the importance of the species that will be planted in the following days.
This is the detailed calendar of appointments included in the BOSCOTO25 project:
Dates of the theoretical workshops:
- 30/09/2024 Torre Pellice
- 01/10/2024 Pinerolo
- 02/10/2024 Pragelato
- 03/10/2024 Sestriere
- 04/10/2024 Bardonecchia
- 16/10/2024 Turin
Planting event dates
- 15/10/2024 Torre Pellice, Pinerolo, Pragelato, Sestriere and Bardonecchia
- 22/10/2024 Turin
The second project that will start in October is TO Art IN MOTION, dedicated to secondary schools in the municipalities hosting the competition outside Turin (1st and 2nd art high school classes).
This dynamic workshop – to be held in the different territories from 11 to 31 October – aims to inspire and enable participants to express themselves artistically. Guided by artists and expert tutors from the association ll Cerchio e le Gocce, the children will immerse themselves in the world of mural painting, embark on a journey of self-discovery, learn the principles of mural painting and the meaning of the values of sport.
The art project will contribute to urban regeneration interventions, transforming competition sites into lively and attractive areas. This project will promote the history, culture and unique identity of the competition venues through murals reflecting characteristic elements and symbols of the sports disciplines practised in the area during the Games. The project will be structured in two phases: a training meeting, with the aim of learning, practising and developing specific skills; preparation and executive realisation of the drawing on a wall surface near the competition venue.
Also as part of TO Art IN MOTION, in Turin, the students involved will have to produce graphic and digital works that will be selected for use in events and exhibitions organised by the Committee.
The third project is the national contest entitled MAKE SCHOOL (AND SPORT) MORE SUSTAINABLE designed for secondary schools (3rd and 4th grade): the contest revolves around the creation of video lessons (with the support of specific tutors from the sector) that must act on three main themes: redesigning environments, analysing new technologies and relating to companies, always with a view to sustainability in terms of sport (objective no. 3 of Agenda 2030).
The project uses sport as a tool to improve young people’s involvement in learning processes and social relations, with a focus on the environment and advanced technologies.
To join this project, schools must register on the https://www.sportinnovationhub.it/competizione-dreamjobs platform.
Finally, during the Games, the SCUOLE AI FISU GAMES project will take place, aimed at primary and secondary schools of Level I and II throughout the Region of Piedmont. Schools from all over Piedmont will be able to register to take part in the exciting FISU Games competitions.
