From 13 to 23 January, the 3Bmeteo team will be at the Universiade village in Torino to provide weather forecasts to athletes and to meet sports fans
Bergamo/Torino, 11 January 2025 – Stable and sunny weather over all the locations where the competitions of the 2025 Torino Universiade will take place, these are the forecasts by 3Bmeteo for the first three days of competitions (from 13 to 15 January 2025).
3Bmeteo is the ‘Official Weather’ of the eagerly awaited Torino FISU Games 2025 that, from Monday 13 January, will be staged in six locations in Piemonte. Thanks to the agreement, the weather centre will prepare weather forecasts for the more than 2,000 athletes and fans who will follow the competitions.
In particular, from the opening of the games to the middle of next week, the presence of a robust high pressure field over Central-Western Europe is expected, with temperatures progressively rising, which could return above average by 15 January, especially at high altitudes due to the influx of warmer air. In particular, the daytime zero temperature around 15 January could again rise above 2,800-3,000 metres (to values that would be at least spring-like), with possible thermal inversions in the valleys. Some Foehn gusts will also be possible at times, especially in the valley outlets of the Turin area.
Snowfall in the area between Bardonecchia and Sestriere records the highest accumulations, ranging between 35 and 55 cm from 1,800-2,000 metres, decreasing to 10-20 cm around 1,400-1,500 metres and at the most traces or a few centimetres around 1,000-1,100 metres. Lesser accumulations in the Pellice valleys, with 10-20 cm generally from 1,800-2,000 metres, scarce or none at lower altitudes. In the specific case of Sestriere the accumulation was around 45 cm, in Pragelato around 14-15 cm, Bardonecchia around 15-20 cm. These are values recorded on 9 January 2025 and will certainly vary between now and the start of the games.
When it comes to sport, weather conditions are fundamental, because any weather variation affects performance, preparation, equipment, athletes’ safety and competition results. The reliability of forecasts is crucial and 3Bmeteo has always cultivated a privileged relationship with sporting events. On the occasion of the FISU Games, 3Bmeteo meteorologists will be at the Torino village, from 13 to 23 January 2025, to meet the public that will follow the competitions. At the stand, visitors will be able to play MeteoQuiz and test their knowledge of lightning, hail and temperatures.
‘The weather is a pivotal element in our lives, based on the forecast we decide whether to work out in the gym or go running in the parks and with what technical clothing. The reliability and accuracy of the information allows us to make informed and targeted choices several times a day, in sport as in work and leisure. Meeting the public in the race villages is an opportunity to contribute to the dissemination of climate culture and respect for the environment. We are very happy to take our activity to the squares and share our passion for weather. See you in Torino for the FISU Games 2025,’ commented Samuele Catanese, 3Bmeteo’s Social Media and Events Manager.
