LIGHTS ON U, a success of viewers and of heart: Torino 2025 Organizing Committee has Donated a part of the proceeds to Casa UGI charity

A success of viewers and of hearts. Thanks to the almost 4.500 paying spectators who attended the Lights on U show last February 24th at the Palavela, the organizing committee of the Torino 2025 University Games Winter raised 4.492,00 euros (1 euro for each detached ticket) to donate to charity at Casa UGI, the charity partner that accompanied the journey towards the event, also hosting the last presentation conference at the beginning of February in the UGIDUE spaces.

The OdV UGI Association (Italian Parents’ Union against children’s cancer) is a voluntary organisation, founded in 1980 at the Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital in Torino, on the initiative of a group of parents. The association deals with assistance to the families of children and adolescents suffering from cancer, free hospitality at Casa UGI, support for research and treatment of pediatric tumors and psychosocial reintegration of patients who are off treatment in UGIDUE.

Lights on U wasn’t just a figure skating show, it was an emotional journey that brought together sport, music and community. As Torino prepares for 2025, this event will surely remain imprinted as a memorable appetizer of what the city is capable of offering. On the occasion, TO Tag, the official mascot of the Games, was also presented.

The Torino Organizing Committee is now traveling quickly towards the next events of the ROAD TO2025, the road that leads to the XXXII edition of the University World Games Winter next year.

The FISU Games are scheduled from 13 to 23 January 2025 in Torino, Torre Pellice, Pinerolo, Pragelato, Bardonecchia and Sestriere: 11 sports scheduled for the first barrier-free university event, given that cross-country skiing and alpine skiing will also compete student para-athletes (Standing, Sitting and Visually Impaired).

«We thank the organizing committee of the Torino 2025 Winter University Games and all the public who attended the wonderful Lights on U show. Everyone’s big heart and great commitment made it possible to raise a considerable amount, which UGI, as a charity, partner of the event, is committed to using it as always for the activities of its young patients”, declares Professor Enrico Pira, President of UGI.

This is the comment of the president of the Organizing Committee of the Torino 2025 Games, Alessandro Ciro Sciretti: «Lights on U was a success for everyone. We are delighted with the great response from ice enthusiasts who gave us some of their time to experience an evening of celebration together towards the Torino 2025 Games. Thanks to their commitment, we have collected this amount to donate to charity to our Charity Partner , with the hope that it can bring a smile to all the children and their families who are part of Casa Ugi, a meritorious reality that carries out in favor of those who are going through a difficult moment in their lives. The World University Games want to be protagonists of the territory, also contributing to its social development.”
