2025 is getting closer and closer! It’s less than 3 years to go before the Torino 2025 World University Games Winter, which, just as in 2007, will return to the Piedmontese capital, the cradle of the event born with the name Universiade right in the first capital of Italy back in 1959 at the behest of the then president of the University Sports Center of Torino, Primo Nebiolo. September 20th will be World University Sports Day and next Tuesday there will be a rich program to celebrate it properly.
The day will kick off at 12:30 p.m. with the #To25 Brain Storm, the presentation of the world’s first competition between top talents from Italian and international universities: a brain storm to achieve the millennium goals. The conference will be held at the Cavallerizza Reale in Via Verdi 9 (Torino). The event is the result of a collaboration between the Torino 2025 Organizing Committee and the four universities of Piedmont, which will be represented by their respective Magnificent Rectors: Stefano Geuna (University of Torino), Guido Saracco (Polytechnic University of Torino), Gian Carlo Avanzi (University of Eastern Piemonte), and Bartolomeo Biolatti (University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo).
At 3 p.m. there will be a ceremony organized by CUS Torino with the collaboration of CUSI and FISU: the lighting of the Flame of Knowledge, leaving for Lake Placid, which will host the next edition of the World University Games Winter from January 12 to 22, 2023. Once the brazier is lit at the Rector’s Office of the University of Torino (Via Verdi 8), the path of the flame will kick off, touching the evocative “Gallery of the Kings” of the Egyptian Museum and the Valentino Castle, home of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Polytechnic University of Torino.
The day will go on until after sunset. At 8:25 p.m., a time that recalls the event that from January 13 to 23, 2025 will see Turin and four other Piedmontese municipalities (Bardonecchia, Pinerolo, Pragelato and Torre Pellice) engaged with the competitions of the World University Games Winter, the Mole Antonelliana and the four bridges in the city center will light up with the logo and colors of the event that will bring the best student athletes of snow and ice sports to the Piedmont mountains. A show that will embrace the city and was made possible by the collaboration between IREN Group, the City of Torino and CUS Torino.
For the occasion, the campaign to become Digital Ambassador of Torino 2025 World University Games Winter has kicked off with the opportunity to experience and promote the Games as a protagonist. The first event, which will culminate under the Mole Antonelliana, will be on Tuesday, September 20th. Information about the campaign can be found at: https://wugtorino2025.com/digital-ambassador/
