Pinerolo, 10 December 24- The tour of the Torch of the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games, scheduled from January 13 to 23, continues. The “Guarini” reached Pinerolo on Tuesday, December 10, departing from Piazza San Donato at 10:30 AM and arriving at the Palaghiaccio Olimpico.
The event was attended by Pinerolo Mayor Luca Salvai, regional councillors Alessandra Binzoni and Monica Canalis, and the director of ASL TO3, Dr. Franca Dall’Occo.
“The passage of the Universiade Torch through Pinerolo is a prelude to great emotions for our city,” commented Pinerolo Mayor Luca Salvai. “From January 13 to 23, 2025, this extraordinary international event will offer the opportunity to showcase Pinerolo and its surroundings to many young athletes from around the world: from its artistic and touristic treasures to our rich sporting tradition.”
Pinerolo’s Sports Councillor, Bruna Destefanis, added: “The FISU World University Games will be a fantastic stage for Piemonte and for Pinerolo, a town that has developed a true vocation for major international events, from the 2006 Winter Olympics to numerous stages of the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France. My heartfelt thanks go to the WUG Torino 2025 Organizing Committee for this incredible opportunity.”
The torchbearers tasked with carrying the “Guarini” included numerous athletes, such as world champion cheerleader Nicol Macagno, Emma Pochettino and Andrea Minetto from Special Olympics, Paralympic bowls athlete Elisa Dagmara Gili, Francesco Vigliani, WUG Junior Ambassador for curling, and Paralympic curling athlete and city councilor Irene Formento.
The Torch will continue its journey, visiting all the host municipalities of the FISU World University Games and passing through the competition venues:
- December 12: Torre Pellice
- December 17: Pragelato
- December 20: Sestriere
- December 29: Bardonecchia
The Torch will return to Torino on January 13, 2025 for the Opening Ceremony marking the start of the XXXII FISU World University Games.

Tickets are now on sale for the Opening Ceremony (January 13 at the Inalpi Arena), short track and figure skating competitions at Palavela, and curling and ice hockey events at PalaTazzoli.
In addition to the competitions, an “event within the event” will take place: the Figure Skating Gala, scheduled for January 19 at Palavela.
