Caivano, December 20, 2024 – Today marked a special stop for the Torch of the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games Winter: the Guarini reached Caivano, Naples, for the ceremony organized by the Ministry of Universities and Research titled “The Re-launch of Caivano Through Education, Art, Science, and Sport,” on the occasion of the inauguration of the University Hub.
The Torch was carried by several torchbearers, including, in the final stretch of the route, Julien Lanfranco, a water polo player from Naples and gold medalist at Chengdu 2023, who is attending a Master’s Degree, and Gaia Colasante, a student-athlete in rowing who participated in both the Universiade in China (winning two bronze medals) and the World University Championships (winning gold).
The two athletes presented the Torch to the Minister of Universities and Research, Senator Anna Maria Bernini, who, by bringing it close to the Lantern carried by the President of the Organizing Committee, Alessandro Ciro Sciretti, lit it in preparation for the next stop, which will take place in Sestriere on the afternoon of December 20. The Guarini will then continue to Bardonecchia on December 29, and finally to Torino for the final stage on January 13, 2025, marking the start of the Games.
The ceremony in Caivano was also attended by the President of FederCusi, Antonio Dima.
