Mai Mihara’s sporting life has its ups and downs, but she is also often in the spotlight: the Japanese sportswoman has twice won gold at the FISU World University Games, in 2019 and 2023, and went on to win the final of the 2022-23 Grand Prix in Torino. Among the illustrious names in the discipline, that of her compatriot Sōta Yamamoto, gold medallist at the 2016 Lillehammer Youth Olympic Games, who triumphed in the men’s university race two years ago, also stands out.
There is no doubt about it: the figure skating competitions will be one of the most exciting moments of the Torino 2025 FISU Games, and Torino’s Palavela, which already crowned Olympic champions in 2006, will provide a worthy setting.
In January, there will be a huge participation of student-athletes, about 100 from 39 countries, second only to Alpine skiing. Certainly, there will be no shortage of big stars of this discipline and young talents who will write the history of figure skating.
