Ski orienteering took place for the first time at the 2019 Universiade in Krasnoyarks (Russia) and, since then, its popularity has continued to grow, so much so that it will be a compulsory sport in the Winter Games programme from 2027. In Torino, these competitions are returning for the second time.
This endurance sport combines cross-country skiing with trails over rough terrain: an activity that requires the athlete both technical skiing skills to choose the best routes, and great physical endurance and strength.
