Lights on U: a wonderful show on the ice with the stars Kostner, Malinin and TO Tag: the mascot of Torino 2025 FISU Games

The Palavela of Torino, which previously hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics and the 2007 Winter Universiade, has been the venue for the highly anticipated “Lights on U” show organized by the Committee for the World University Games Winter of Torino 2025. The event held a special significance, not only because of the exceptional lineup of ice performances, but also because it was the occasion to introduce to the world the official mascot of Turin 2025: TO Tag.

The audience of over six thousand spectators witnessed a series of performances that blended the art of skating with live music, creating a magical atmosphere. The program began with the athletes of FISG Piemonte and the Local Kids performing to Coldplay’s “Paradise,” a promising start that immediately captivated the attendees.

The first half of the event featured soloists and pairs taking turns on the ice, delivering performances that ranged from classical pieces to contemporary songs. From the sweet melody of “Claire de lune” to the expressive power of U2’s “We are the people,” each performance was carefully chosen to showcase the versatility and talent of the ice artists.

Particularly, the performances to David Kushner’s “Daylight” and Tom Walker’s “Leave a light on” highlighted the emotional ability of figure skating to convey stories without words. The first half concluded with the presentation of TO Tag, a moment of pure enthusiasm that saw the audience warmly welcome the event’s symbolic mascot.

The second half of the show continued with the same intensity and brilliance. “Land of all” and “Run boy run” by Woodkid provided an energetic soundtrack for the following performances, once again demonstrating how music can elevate the art of skating. Equally impressive was the rendition of “Sound of silence” by Disturbed, a moment of sheer dramatic intensity that left the audience breathless.

Toward the end, the audience appreciated a reinterpretation of Coldplay’s “Fix you,” a song that resonates deeply with many, followed by the final performance to Ed Sheeran’s “Celestial,” which set the stage for the final greetings.

“Lights on U” was not just a figure skating show; it was an emotional journey that united sports, music, and community. As Torino prepares for 2025, this event will surely be remembered as a memorable preview of what the city has to offer.
